About Sonic Angel
Sonic Angel, aka Angie, is a DJ and mum of two. She's always had a passion for music, and what started as a hobby, is now her full-time job! Anything is possible if you're prepared to put in the practice! She's self-taught, and within 6 months of starting to DJ, played her first live gig in a nightclub, opening the stage for a huge act. Playing live became a regular thing and before long, she played her first festival. Roll on a few years she now runs her own company, Revology Events, supporting club, bar and hotel residencies from London to Brighton, as well as supporting weddings, private & corporate celebrations across the South. While events keep Angie and her team busy most evenings, she enjoys teaching during the day, inspiring children & adults from 8 to 60 (ish!). All our lessons are fun and interactive, and help to build a real connection to the music. The more you love music, the more music you will love!!
“Believe in yourself, and the world will follow your beat!” – David Guetta.
About our lessons
Our lessons offer a mix of theory and hands-on learning to build knowledge and understanding of the art of DJing. We provide all equipment and songs to get you started, but if you have your own you want to bring, that's fine too! For our 1-2-1 lessons we offer 30mins for kids and up to 45min for adults. By prior arrangement, we can also offer Group lessons.
We start all our lessons by learning about you. What music you listen to, what makes you want to dance, if you've learned or played other instruments, and what your objectives are. Together we'll put some plans down to help give us something to work toward each week and keep progress steady. For beginners, our sessions teach about timing, song structure, how to build & maintain a digital record collection, how to use DJ equipment, and of course how to seamlessly mix songs. Dancing in our lessons is expected but not compulsory 😁. Once you've learned the basics, we move onto more advanced skills, such as using special effects, scratching, understanding different genres, building a great set, and how to read a room to deliver a successful gig. In each lesson the aim is to have fun, enjoying the music as you learn!!
Our equipment
We use Rekordbox software and a range of Pioneer DJ equipment to teach during our lessons, from entry level controllers to industry standard CDJ's used in professional settings, accompanied with industry leading PA systems. If you have a preference for a different software or setup, get in touch so we can adapt to fit your needs.
If you don't have your own laptop, digital record collection or headphones yet, don't worry, we've got your covered. In addition to learning how to DJ, we offer a great way to experiment with a variety of DJ setups before you decide what you might want to invest in as you progress through your own DJ journey.
Lesson locations
Our lessons are currently running in 3 locations in Guildford. We can also travel up to 15km to other locations, please email info@revology.co.uk to discuss your requirements. We don't offer online lessons at this time, as we believe that in-person, practical lessons offer the best results for our students.
Lesson showcases
At the end of each term we host an Open Decks event in a central Guildford location, where all our students are welcome to perform in public. Don't worry this is totally optional, and we leave it to each student to decide if they wish to participate, but it is highly encouraged and lots of fun for those who do!! Keep an eye on our Events Page for the next Open Decks showcase.
