DJ Lessons Return: This September! Book Early and Secure Your Place

Summer has a way of filling your head with music. Festivals, parties, long evenings, new playlists, nights out with friends, and tracks you keep coming back to long after the weekend is over.

Then September arrives...

...Routines return, calendars fill up, and the things you meant to start can easily get pushed back again. If learning to DJ has been sitting on your bucket list, or if you have already started mixing and want to take your skills further, this is the moment to get your place booked.

Our lessons are one-to-one, practical, friendly, and built around your goals. Whether you want to mix confidently at home, play a party, perform in a venue, or simply understand how DJs make tracks flow together, September is the perfect time to begin.

Why booking early matters

Our one-to-one DJ lessons are deliberately kept small so every student gets proper attention. That means each session can move at the right pace, with time to ask questions, practise properly, and build confidence without feeling rushed.

It also means lesson spaces are limited.

Each week has a fixed number of available slots, and popular evening times can fill up before the course begins. Booking early gives you the best chance of choosing the day and time that suits your routine, rather than waiting and fitting around what is left.

For many students, consistency makes a big difference. Turning up at the same time each week helps you build momentum. You know when your lesson is happening, you can practise between sessions, and your progress starts to feel natural.

September is also a strong time to start because it gives you a clear reset. Summer often brings inspiration. Autumn gives you structure. Put the two together, and you have a great chance to turn a passing interest into a real skill.

September and October lesson times

Revology DJ Academy lessons return from Tuesday 8th September at The Stoke Pub, Guildford.

Day

Lesson times

Tuesday

4:00pm to 7:00pm

Wednesday

5:00pm to 10:00pm

Location

The Stoke Pub, Guildford

These times are designed to suit different schedules, including after-school sessions, after-work lessons, and evening slots for those who prefer to learn later in the day.

If you already know you want a regular evening space, it is worth booking as soon as possible. These tend to be the first to go, especially for students travelling in after work or school.

Learn at your own pace

Every DJ starts with a different goal.

Some students want to mix smoothly at home for fun. Others want to DJ at private parties, pubs, clubs, festivals, or school events. Some are already mixing and want help with phrasing, transitions, confidence, or performance technique. Others are complete beginners who have never touched professional DJ equipment before.

All of those starting points are welcome.

Each 45-minute session combines hands-on mixing with the theory that helps everything make sense. You will not just copy a move without knowing why it works. You will learn how to listen, count, prepare, and make better decisions while mixing.

Lessons can cover areas such as:

  • Beatmatching and timing

  • Phrasing and song structure

  • Smooth transitions

  • Track selection

  • Cueing and headphones

  • Mixer controls and deck layout

  • EQ and volume control

  • Building confidence behind the decks

  • Performing to an audience

  • Developing your own style

There is no fixed syllabus that every student has to follow in the same way. Your lessons are shaped around your experience level, your preferred music, and what you want to achieve.

That approach matters because DJing is personal. Two students might both love house music, but one may want to create long, smooth blends while another wants fast party-style transitions. One student might want to understand the basics of club mixing. Another might want to practise a set for a birthday, wedding, or first public performance.

One-to-one teaching allows space for those differences.

The lessons are suitable for all ages and abilities

One of the questions we are asked most often is simple:

“Am I too old to learn?”

The answer is just as simple. Absolutely not.

DJing is not just for one age group, one background, or one type of music fan. Our students range from children discovering music for the first time to adults finally starting something they have wanted to try for years.

Some people arrive with no experience at all. Others have played around with a controller at home and want to understand what they are doing more clearly. Some students have watched DJs for years and are ready to step behind the decks themselves. Others are coming back to music after a long break.

You do not need to know technical terms before you arrive. You do not need to own equipment. You do not need to have a perfect music collection. You just need interest, patience, and a willingness to practise.

The first few sessions are often about building comfort. You learn where everything is, what each control does, how to listen through headphones, and how to line up two tracks. Once that starts to click, your confidence grows quickly.

There is a special feeling when your first clean mix lands. The track comes in on time, the energy holds, and you realise you made it happen. That moment is often what turns curiosity into commitment.

Every genre is welcome

Music taste is personal, and DJ lessons should reflect that.

Revology DJ Academy teaches across a wide range of genres, including house, garage, drum and bass, dance, pop, R&B, commercial, disco, and much more. If there is a sound you love, we can use it as the foundation for your lessons.

Learning with music you enjoy makes a huge difference. You listen more closely. You notice the details. You feel the rhythm rather than treating the lesson like a technical exercise.

Different genres also teach different skills.

House can help you understand phrasing and smooth blending. Garage can sharpen timing and rhythm. Drum and bass can build speed and confidence. Pop and commercial music can teach quick decision-making and crowd awareness. Disco and funk can help you hear groove, energy, and musical movement.

You do not have to stay in one lane either. Many DJs build confidence by learning with familiar tracks, then start exploring new styles as their skills improve.

That is one of the best parts of DJing. The more you learn, the more music opens up.

Why learn with Revology DJ Academy

At Revology, the aim is to make learning enjoyable, encouraging, and practical.

A good DJ lesson should give you more than information. It should give you the confidence to try, make mistakes, correct them, and keep improving. That is much easier in a one-to-one setting, where the lesson can pause, repeat, slow down, or move forward depending on what you need.

Group lessons can be fun, but they often move at a shared pace. Some students feel left behind. Others feel held back. One-to-one teaching removes that pressure.

With Revology DJ Academy, the focus stays on your progress.

You will have space to ask questions that might feel too basic in a larger room. You can spend more time on the skills that challenge you. You can also move quickly through areas you already understand.

That makes lessons useful for complete beginners and improving DJs alike.

For beginners, it may start with the basics:

  • How the equipment works

  • How to cue a track

  • How to count bars and beats

  • How to bring one track into another

  • How to avoid common mixing mistakes

For more experienced students, sessions may focus on detail:

  • Cleaner transitions

  • More confident EQ use

  • Better set structure

  • Creative mixing ideas

  • Reading energy in a room

  • Preparing for a live set

The overall aim stays the same. Build real skill in a way that feels clear, practical, and enjoyable.

What to expect from your first lesson

Your first lesson does not need to feel intimidating. You will not be expected to perform, know every button, or arrive with technical knowledge.

The session will usually begin with a conversation about your experience and goals. If you are brand new, that might be as simple as saying, “I love music and want to learn how mixing works.” If you already DJ a little, you might talk about what you find difficult or where you want to improve.

From there, the lesson moves into hands-on practice.

You will get familiar with the decks, mixer, headphones, and basic controls. You will learn how to listen to two tracks, line them up, and understand what makes a transition work.

The pace is calm and practical. You try things, hear what happens, and learn how to adjust.

That process is one of the reasons DJing is so rewarding. Progress is easy to feel. A mix that sounded messy at the start of the lesson can sound cleaner by the end. A control that felt confusing can start to make sense once you use it in context.

Those small wins add up.

Building confidence beyond the decks

DJing is a technical skill, but it is also a confidence skill.

Many students start by worrying about getting things wrong. That is normal. Timing, song choice, and transitions can feel like a lot to think about at once. Over time, the basics become more natural, and you start to relax into the music.

Confidence grows through repetition. The more you practise a transition, the less you have to overthink it. The more you understand phrasing, the easier it becomes to choose the right moment. The more you use the equipment, the less unfamiliar it feels.

That confidence can carry into different goals.

You might want to record your first mix. You might want to play for friends. You might want to take the first step towards paid gigs. You might simply want a creative hobby that gives you something exciting to focus on each week.

All of those goals are valid.

The important thing is to start from where you are and keep moving.

A regular lesson slot makes it easier to build progress week by week.

September is a natural time to begin something new. The summer has given you music, ideas, and inspiration. The new term brings routine, focus, and a chance to commit.

Revology DJ Academy returns from Tuesday 8th September, with one-to-one lesson spaces available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at The Stoke Pub, Guildford.

The September block runs for 4 weeks, followed by a 3-week October course, with pricing adjusted to suit the length of each block.

If you want the best choice of times, early booking is strongly recommended. Spaces are limited each week, and evening slots are likely to be popular.

There is no perfect age, genre, or starting level. You can begin as a complete beginner. You can return after time away. You can bring your own goals, your own music taste, and your own reasons for wanting to learn.

The first step is simply getting behind the decks.

Start Humble. Spin Big.
